Social Deceit

Since the beginning of civilization empires have created ways to control and subjugate their masses. From ancient Sumeria, to Egypt, to the still existing British Empire, a carefully crafted series of manipulative control mechanisms are implemented on the very fabric of society. These systems are ideological, religious, scientific, and economic, they are imposed by the military and are all manipulated and fed to the masses by the media. These methods are typically imposed by the ruling elite in order to dictate the laws of the land in their favor. Even under “democratic” governments as is our case there are many battle grounds in the field of human rights being highly contested today. While our liberty hangs in the balance, unfair and flawed legislation under the guise of progress and security is being passed. These forces attempt to conceal disturbing atrocities committed against its own citizens and those of foreign nations. Lies, deception, subversion, and suppression are but a few of the tactics facing the “average” person in this new “global society.”

This series is dedicated to bring attention to important current social events, and issues that affect our society, issues that may be hidden from the publics eye under the many veils of tyranny. Every issue needs to be known, transparent, and decided by all of the people participating in a democratic society regardless of class, race, culture, age or gender. These are the issues that affect us all, war, trade, health, education, economic, security and so on. Sadly most of these issues are settled often without the knowledge or consent of the masses. This social deceit is at the heart of our current social problems and is rooted in those that are to come.

I've chosen to use only digital media for this series as a way to emulate the greatest form of mass manipulation: The Media. Using my computer I can use the tools available to massively reproduce prints and to distribute these messages to a greater amount of people.

This is my attempt to bring about some social justice. A way in which I can use my artistic gift to uncover some of those veils laid down on many important issues of our times. Issues that are affecting us now and will affect us for generations to come.
